Free One-Page Resume Template (Copy and Paste)

This one-page resume template is free. I wrote it as plain text you copy into Word or Google Docs, and the builder below fills it in as you type. A template cannot guarantee interviews. It only holds your facts on a one-column page.

Fill in the boxes and copy the result into Word or Google Docs. Nothing is uploaded; it all runs in your browser.

Copy the outline

Fill-in-the-blank formulas

Each bracket is a slot you replace with a true fact.

Summary line

Use two lines, then stop:

[Target title] with [years] in [field]. Strongest proof: [skill] used to [task] at [kind of workplace].

Add a third line only if the title you want is easy to misread: I want [role] where the daily work is [task you will gladly repeat].

Bullet line

One or two lines:

[Verb] [object] by [method], which [result a teammate could confirm].

If you cannot confirm the result, stop sooner: [Verb] [object] for [whom] using [tool]. Open with a verb such as built, tracked, scheduled, reconciled, trained, wrote, shipped, answered, organized, or reviewed. Skip "responsible for" and "helped with" as your first words.

Skills and education

Keep skills to one line of tools you can use without a refresher. One education line is enough.

Made-up examples

I invented both people. Riley Example is not real. Casey Placeholder is not real. The regional logistics company is not a real employer. Use the pattern, then throw the facts away.

Riley Example

Made-up example. Riley Example wants coordinator work in freight. Summary: Warehouse coordinator with several years in regional freight. Strongest proof: cycle counts used to reconcile short shipments at a regional logistics company.

Newest bullet: Reconciled inbound carton counts against carrier receipts by checking the dock log twice a shift, which gave the next shift a list of missing freight. There is no invented score, only verb, object, method, and a checkable result.

Casey Placeholder

Made-up example, same fictional company. Weak line: Responsible for customer emails and helping the team. Short formula: Answered customer emails about late pickups for shippers using the shared case tracker. With a confirmable result: Answered customer emails about late pickups for shippers by logging each case in the shared tracker, which left the next shift a clear open list. Your bullets should follow that last shape with your own tasks.

How to fit one page

Keep three or four sections. This outline uses Summary, Experience, Skills, and Education. Add a section only for a license that will not fit on the education line.

Give the newest role three bullets. Cut each older role to one or two bullets. Hold every bullet to one or two lines. A third line means you should cut the half that is less related to the role you want.

Drop the line "References available." Send references on a separate page only if someone asks. I set margins near 0.75 inch and body text near 11 point. If I am a few lines over, I tighten the gap between lines before I take the font below 10.5 point.

When two pages are fine

One page is the default I would use with this outline. I go to two pages only when the second page is still relevant work you would talk about in an interview. Two pages at most. If you reach a third page, collapse each early role to a single line or delete it.

Format it in Word or Google Docs

For the layout rules behind this outline, see my ATS-friendly resume template for Word guide.

  1. Paste into a blank file. Set one column only.
  2. Do not use a table or a text box for the resume text.
  3. Apply one heading style to Summary, Experience, Skills, and Education (the Row & Page templates use the Heading 1 style for section titles). Use the list button for bullets rather than typed hyphens.
  4. Save as PDF. Name the file Firstname-Lastname-Resume.pdf. If the person were Riley Example, the file would be Riley-Example-Resume.pdf.

Open the PDF and check four things.

If you want a file instead of an outline

You can stop here and send the PDF you just made. If you want help rewriting bullets, I also offer a free ATS resume checklist and 10 fill-in-the-blank bullets PDF.

Next step

Paste the outline into a blank document and finish the newest role first. Export Firstname-Lastname-Resume.pdf, then read it once and cut any bullet that is not about the work you want.
