Google Business Profile description checker
Paste your business description. The checker counts characters against the 750 limit, shows the first 250 characters as a rough preview, and flags links and promotion, price or sale wording, plus phone numbers, ALL CAPS words and repeated keywords.
Your file is read in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded or sent anywhere, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
What a good description covers
- What you do and who you do it for, in the first sentence.
- Main services and the areas you serve.
- What makes you different: years in business, licensing, specialties.
- Plain language. Write for customers, not for keywords.
What we suggest leaving out
- Website links (Google's rules above say no links).
- Promotions, discounts or prices (the rules above say the description shouldn't focus on them).
- Phone numbers. We suggest keeping them in the phone field.
- Long lists of cities or repeated keywords. We suggest plain language instead.
The 250-character preview in the checker is our own rough estimate, not a Google figure.
